Dentistry continues to change, particularly because of the advances in clinical dentistry, materials and technology. These changes offer opportunities for both patients and dental practices alike. Now patients can benefit from the advances in Clinical dentistry and dental practices can benefit from the opportunity to move their business in a forward direction. Dental practices need to constantly look at the available options. Dentists can now offer patients advanced choices like Laser dentistry, Esthetic dentistry, Digital dentistry and Implant dentistry. I find that dentists who are taking advanced clinical courses and utilizing technology are re-energized and enjoying dentistry more than ever before.

Oral cancer often begins with an asymptomatic stage during which symptoms may not be obvious, it is often painless initially and therefore difficult to detect. Oral cancer treatment is usually successful when performed in the early stages, any abnormal change in the mouth, gums, tongue, or surrounding area should be evaluated by a dental professional immediately. A consistent build up of plaque and tartar leads to oral cancer and Nutritional deficiencies implicated as risk factor Diet low in fruits & vegetables implicated in cancers of mouth, larynx, and oesophagus. Diet low in vitamin A has been linked to oral  cancer in some studies Iron deficiency associated with Plummer-Vinson syndrome causes an elevated risk for squamous cell carcinoma of the oesophagus, oropharynx and posterior mouth. It is estimated that tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking combined account for approximately ¾ of all oral and pharyngeal cancers in the U.S.

Endodontic is a dental speciality which deals with the dental pulp. Root canal therapy is one of the common procedures followed in endodontic treatments. Also includes treatment of cracked teeth and dental trauma. Endodontic treatment is done to save the teeth from diseased dental pulp. Successful Endodontic  root canal therapy depends on the elimination of the microorganism from the root canal system through the use of Diode laser  in the root canal therapy .Nickel-titanium (NiTi) Rotary files to Endodontics  almost changed the way root canal preparation are performed. Regenerative endodontics uses the concept of tissue engineering to restore the root canals to a healthy. Most  endodontists  offer tremendous flexibility in accommodating emergency cases, so delays in treatment are kept to a minimum and patients can be relieved of dental pain quickly. Many endodontists use state-of-the-art technology such as operating microscopes, digital imaging, ultrasonic instrumentation and fiber optics, to treat their patients quickly and comfortably. Today, getting root canal treatment is often no more uncomfortable than having a filling.

Oral microbiology is a complex ecological system where upto 700 species of microorganisms that have been identified .Some of the predominant groups present in the mouth include Streptococcus, Neisseria, Veillonella, Actinomyces and other obligate anaerobes . These organisms maintain a mutualistic relationship with the host by preventing pathogenic species from adhering to the mucosal surface . Oral microflorae can cause dental plaques and are also a common cause dental caries and periodontal disease . Oral disease in an individual can be caused due to a combination of lack of oral hygiene and factors influencing the oral microbial community structure, such as diet. An understanding of the oral environment and microbial interactions leads to understanding the main causes for the onset of oral diseases.

Tooth restorations are the various ways your dentist can replace missing teeth or repair missing parts of the tooth structure which is most commonly discussed topic at the Upcoming dental conferences. Tooth structure can be missing due to decay, deterioration of a previously placed restoration, or fracture of a tooth. The didactic areas of instruction include the normal periodontium at the macro and microscopic level, periodontal pathology including intra-oral lesions associated with periodontal conditions, periodontal microbiology and immunology, pain control and pharmacology applicable to periodontal treatments, cell biology, wound healing including periodontal regeneration, dental implantology, case management, epidemiology and statistics in Periodontology.

Dental hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean to prevent dental problems, most commonly, dental cavities, gingivitis, caries ,periodontal (gum) diseases and bad breath. A dental hygienist is a licensed dental professional who is registered with a dental association or regulatory body within their country of practice.

Dental sleep medicine is an area of dental practice that focuses on the use of oral appliance therapy to treat sleep-disordered breathing, including snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Approximately 25 million adults have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which can cause them to stop breathing hundreds of times a night for anywhere from a few seconds to more than a minute. Sleep apnea is a chronic condition that occurs when your muscles relax during sleep, allowing soft tissue to collapse and block the airway. As a result, repeated breathing pauses occur, which often reduce your oxygen levels. These breathing pauses are followed by brief awakenings that disturb your sleep.

Orofacial myology is a specialized professional discipline that evaluates and treats a variety of oral and facial (orofacial) muscle (myo-) postural and functional disorders and habit patterns that may disrupt normal dental development and also create cosmetic problems. Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry refers to the use of pharmacological agents to calm and relax a patient prior to and during a dental appointment. The pharmacological agents usually belong to a class of drugs called sedatives, which exert their action by depressing the central nervous system, specifically those areas concerned with conscious awareness.

There are different degrees of central nervous system depression, each corresponding to a level of relaxation which ranges from minimal, moderate, to deep sedation. In general, minimal sedation refers to a patient who has reduced anxiety but readily responds to verbal or physical stimulation. With moderate sedation the patient is even more relaxed, and will respond to purposeful stimulation. In deep sedation, the patient may not exhibit any signs of consciousness and therefore be unresponsive to stimulation.

Track 16 : Probiotics For Oral Health

Probiotics for oral health are not that prolific. The term oral probiotics seems innocuous enough. The term may be a little misleading because all probiotics are taken by mouth; they’re very rarely administered via injection, enema, or colonics. Probiotics almost all function in the gut, though. The oral probiotics of this article refer to those bacteria that are intended to work in the mouth to alter the oral biofilm to be more healthful. Yes, it’s possible to have a more healthful biofilm.

Plaque is a sticky, colorless film of bacteria that constantly forms on our teeth and along the gum line. Plaque contains bacteria that cause cavities and gum disease.Tartar is calcified or hardened plaque that attaches to the enamel on your teeth and below the gum line.
